3 Tips to Meet New People When You’re Flying Solo to a Party or a Festival

concertAre you thinking about going solo to a festival or party? Well, that could be one of the most courageous and transformative experiences you’ll never forget. Contrary to what most people believe that solo adventures are boring and lonesome, it is really a great escapade to know yourself even better and step out of your comfort zone.

You give yourself a chance to experience new things, in so many ways you almost presumed impossible. You get to enjoy your own pace, party at your own rhythm and meet new friends. Here, you can be who you really are without dealing with expectations and compromises.

Below are great ways to spark a new connection with strangers you’ll meet at the party:

#1 Wear some cute accessories.

Wear something that stands out. Think of wigs, glitters, and neon party socks. Chances are, you’ll stumble upon someone who will notice your flashy accessories or bold fashion statement. Compliments are great ways to start a conversation, instead of just saying, “Hey, what’s up?”

#2 Bring a lighter.

You might’ve heard of this old trick, but this one is golden – it works all the time!

If you smoke, ask others for a lighter. If you don’t puff nicotine, bring a lighter or offer cigarettes to people. This is another great way to open up a conversation and meet new people.

Similarly, this is also applicable to pens. You never know who might need one!

#3 Pretend you lost your friend.

It’s not really the noblest tip, but it works.

If you’ve found a group of friends you’ll likely get along with, go and dance with them then say, “Do you mind if I hang a bit with you guys? I lost my friends.” People at festivals won’t mind. They’ll be happy to tag you along. Also, they understand that it’s pretty easy to lose sight of your friends in a party crowd.

When all is getting really well and you’re ready to come clean, tell them honestly that you’ve come solo to the event. They’ll likely adopt you in their group real quick!

What other social tricks can you suggest? We’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments.

Some of the best festival experiences you’ll ever have are those from when you go solo. Trust me, it’s a whole new adventure out there. You become more outgoing and open-minded. You won’t be anchored down by your friend’s opinions, especially when you have different perceptions of a ‘good time’. I’m a proud solo traveler and party enthusiast for many years and I love it!

I’ve always tried the lighter tip and guys, I tell you it really works! I’ve been to different parties and festivals and I have with me this simple lighter I bought from the convenience store. I don’t smoke, but I’ve been carrying it for around 2 years of crazy partying. I met a bunch of great people just by offering my lighter to them. Funny how they’re so handy when you’re looking to meet new people in a crowd.

Wow, this is a good read! I’ve been planning to go on a solo festival trip soon, and I’m a bit frustrated yet excited about this whole solo adventure thing. It’s my first time to attend festivals on my own. It’s nice to come across these tricks. I will do these on my future adventures and see how they go.
